I never said one should refuse texting, I said one shouldn’t refuse calling. And as for my technological aptitude, I think I do quite well. But go off.

I mean, I’m not a programmer or anything like that but I can be comfortable with just about any OS you put in front of me with minimal time to familiarize - though admittedly I’m most comfortable with any of numerous flavours of Linux desktop/Android, and least enthused about using Windows. I 've got a lot of practice problem-solving though nowadays that seems to be less and less frequent.

I’m not great at touch typing as I have a tremor, but thankfully I have friends who know they can text me but I’m likely to call them back if I need to reply in any depth. On a physical keyboard my tremor doesn’t really interfere with my ability to type though; actually I enjoy typing on a physical keyboard and recently upgraded to a Thinkpad so it’s been better than ever.

I do occasionally use scrpy so I can type on my phone from my laptop, but that’s only practical at home obviously.

edit: Also, I’m kind of laughing to myself at the thought anyone could think a friggin trans woman on the fediverse could possibly be inept with technology :P

Not everyone is able to text. Not everyone has access to or can afford a smart phone. Refusing to take a voice call is a clear sign of social ineptitude, imo - if you really can’t be bothered to do that I shudder to think of what you must be like in face-to-face interactions. Toughen up.

I dunno about all this, I just play games from Atari, NES, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, Playstation, etc. Maybe I’m simple but I’m also having fun :P

What about climates that are freezing cold or hot and humid asf like, most of the year (almost always damp), and also 2 weeks each of spring and fall (should be pleasant but actually just extra windy, wet, and miserable)? What word would you use for this special awfulness? (I hate all the seasons; would love to live somewhere milder; might move to the Yukon for more humane summers but I hear the mosquitos are savage and I’m afraid of bears).

Sounds like heaven. Here in southern Ontario, Canada most days have been over 30C with high humidity and frequent thunderstorms, which only make it more humid. And other days, we’ve been getting smoke from the wildfires further north in eastern Ontario and Quebec. Annnnddddd…my A/C is broken.

On the plus side, there’s a bit of relief right this moment, with the temperature currently at 16C (it’s like 5am rn). Hopefully I can trap as much of this cool air in my place as possible.

Yes, a nightmare I had as a child, many years ago (around 30ish). I was in a desert/beach…the air was dusty and orange-tinted. There was a gazebo made of wood, almost rotting or rotten, and a giant golem who trapped me in a wooden box. The whole thing was terrifying, and dry and hot.

Studio monitors (nothing too expensive, something I bought years ago), small USB-powered laptop speakers.

…but like synthpop more than anything else. I gotta have those hooks. <3

I hate to correct OP, but actually it was the 16-bit Genesis (Mega Drive) version of Sonic that was released first. The 8-bit Master System and Game Gear versions were released a few months after.
