  • I deleted my Reddit account and have not gone back. That said, I’m not particularly fond of Lemmy either. I’ve found… maybe? two communities here of interest that may have migrated from Reddit and they aren’t even active; and even as a socialist, the politics are tiresome and pervasive.

Aside from fascists getting the smacking around that they deserve, the one thing that’s nice is that there are far fewer cringey “yay lemmy is the best isn’t it guys” circlejerk posts now than there were back then. I don’t spend nearly as much time on here as I did on Reddit, so that’s a plus.

Nah, a friend of mine told me once, many many years ago, how she was with her boyfriend and all ready to go and he just wasn’t having it, being fully buried in Diablo II. She was a gamer herself too so it’s not like she was always rolling her eyes at him and saying “ugh you guys and your games”. He really was just that much a dork.

That isn’t to say that this isn’t a really dumb meme

Exactly, I’m getting sick to death of the overuse of the terms fascism and nazism because they’re being used to describe everyone with a totalitarian bent. Yes, the GOP have fascistic tendencies, so it’s apt, but the real operative word to use in pretty much all of these cases is authoritarianism. And whether they’re [actual] fascists or communists, authoritarians are reprehensible. The Nazis were irredeemable but—and I say this as a socialist—so were the Soviets.

I think hiccups are going to be inevitable at times no matter what you’re using, but I don’t expect total disaster to befall you either, no matter what you’re using. I will admit that I was miffed as hell when that TPM bullshit came up when I was installing Win11 last night but a quick download of Rufus and a bootable USB installation cleared that up right quick.
