  • I worked with a guy that had to go in three times but I think he was no following post operation care. You are supposed to abstain for a few days while it heals.

When I got my vasectomy it was no needle, no scalpel. They make a small hole then pull the vas deferens out cut and tie it to itself then do the other, all with pain numbing spray. Was 5 minutes not including the ball shaving. I went in to work that night, with an ice pack on my balls all night but barely had any issues. Some extra swelling happened but I went back for an injection of anti inflammatory and it went away.

  • Other than the normal front shots of the statue, I have never looked at the other angles. I never realized David was from David and the Goliath story and that he had a sling on his back.

I figured it was just some guy named David that has a lot of money and got his statue made and it was famous for who made it.

  • It doesn’t hurt in the short term but in the last 23 years I have worked night shift in some form for 16 years. The living a day life will catch up to you eventually.

I have severe central sleep apnea so my sleep has never been normal and I find that it actually helps because I don’t get any sort of jet lag and I can sleep anytime as long as I have my machine to keep me breathing.

Lots of studies show cancer and diabetes rates are higher in night shift workers but obviously there isn’t a specific cause, just knowing that it is a higher likelihood means you should keep an eye out for the signs and try to prevent it by eating right when you can.

  • The key to night shift is consistency. I do night shift year round for nearly 9 years with this most recent job. I sleep 3pm to 10pm every work day and eat my meals at 11pm,3am and 10am.

I found over the years that the people who couldn’t handle it were still trying to live a day life on night shift. They would try to get through with a short nap in the morning and another one just before work then try and fail to catch up on the weekend. They would eat breakfast lunch and dinner at home then have another meal at work so they were overeating and gaining weight or getting diabetes.

Xylimelts are great for keeping your mouth from drying out in the first place. They have a natural adhesive on one side to stick in your cheek and the xylitol dissolves through the night stimulating your saliva production.

I have sleep apnea and use them daily to keep my mouth from drying out with the small amount of air as it escapes my mouth

  • About 10 years ago I went for a sleep study after my mom witnessed me not breathing in my sleep, I was visiting her house and slept on the couch.

The day after my second study where I wore a CPAP to get the pressure adjusted properly to get me breathing again. This is the day like you that is seared into my brain. I somehow spent 32 years before that not breathing properly while sleeping.

I was at work later that day and felt weird but couldn’t figure it out, I stood on a forklift unmoving for 10 minutes thinking about this troubling feeling in my head. It felt like I had drank a Jolt Cola, and I realized the first time in my life I felt awake without needing a ton of caffeine. I literally reintroduced myself to my co-workers because I felt like an entirely different person.

Now I don’t drink more than once or twice a year because living life raw and unfiltered and awake is still new to me 10 years on.
