Also zeppo@lemmy.world. Not a lot of Zeppos out here.

Well, yeah. I don’t see hard liquor as a health tonic or something. I’m dealing with a couple autoimmune diseases that hospitalized me and derailed my personal life and career majorly about 4 times, and so far I picked myself up and got on track uh… 3 times. I was drinking and entertaining myself with travel and debauchery for a while but it’s about time to chill out, get a job and get a relationship again.
Oh, thanks. I tend to drink steadily throughout the day and extra if I have to do something. I probably wouldn’t if I had something better to do.
I should clean up a bit. Probably going to drink a liter or two of whiskey with Diet Coke or seltzer. I have parts for a whole new pc to put together but haven’t gotten around to it for a couple of months… the system I have is adequate for what I do and I haven’t felt like rocking the boat. Probably I’ll go for a walk or two with my dad if the weather is decent. Also thinking about making enchiladas, maybe pasta sauce and lasagna. Definitely need to roast some brussel sprouts and asparagus.
I rented a moving truck, to be driven 400 miles away. When I got the into the truck for the first time outside of the store, I noticed it the console said low tire pressure on one tire. I said “oh, I’m not messing with it now, probably just needs to be topped off” and drove away. Then it was fine for a couple days as I loaded the truck, then once I finished loading and left… I filled the tire up… it kept going low as I drove, though. So I had to stop 5-6 times in the next 250 miles and top it off. Finally I inspected it and there was a tear around the fill valve. This was in a very remote area of a freeway, basically the middle of nowhere, 60 miles in either direction to a town bigger than like 500 people. I stopped safely at a rest stop but it ended up taking the truck company’s roadside assistance 10 hours to fully get me back on the road. Then they ended up charging me for an extra day at the return site, giving me this huge run around on the phone, and I had to file a credit card chargeback for the extra day (thankfully, it was successful).
So obviously I should have told the rental place immediately “wtf this truck says it has a low tire” or at the very least, gone back before I left.
I’m not sure what this means because pencils have all been graphite basically forever. Mechanical pencils?
They’re good in the contexts of whole foods with protein, fiber and vitamins. I’m just pointing out that sugar and potatoes are almost the same thing.
I have type 1 diabetes, so, yeah. I am pretty careful about starches.
If sugar is bad for you, vegetable starch is as well. Vegetable starches (potato, rice, wheat, corn) are chains of glucose molecules. They’re metabolized and raise blood glucose even faster than sucrose.
You have to balance on top.
It would be nice if my pancreas actually worked all the way.
Other than that, i’d like to be able to fill my balls with helium so I could float around.
It seems fine overall. Some communities do need to be revived with new posts. Do you browse on All>New or something else?
Yea, pretty much the same UK town names are repeated across the country, sometimes even more than one in a state.
Yeah, I’ve never intentionally clicked on a Temu ad. Browsers do provide an additional layer of security as far as access permissions for mobile devices, though they can of course be exploited as well.
I never install an app if I can do something through a website. Twitbook, reddit, Instagram, whatever. If it really requires an app I generally choose to just not do it.
Yes, how’d you guess? And yes, that is on purpose. I’m also quite aware that people who are parents think it’s odd or unusual to not want to do that. I’m not saying I think children are ‘bad’ or parents regret their choices (although realistically, some do) … just that personally I don’t get it, same as I don’t understand why some people would want to have 5 dogs. I’m over 40 and have known plenty of people who are parents and mostly, they seem to like it. I’ve had several girlfriends who wanted to have children and I was basically uh, no, you should do that with someone else. But also my life is pretty fucked up. Maybe if I had better health and had chosen a more stable career I’d feel differently.
That’s true, some kids are very cool to hang out with. They’re just people, after all, and everyone is different. Children of course are very much a reflection of their environment, with a few exceptions.
I guess what I object to is people who think the only reason they exist is to reproduce, and that somehow it’s extremely virtuous, like they’re doing the world a favor. What’s the point of living only to have children? That’s what a virus or something does. There needs to be something more interesting about a person, more going on than ‘I reproduced’.
So… nobody would be around to lament that, so why would it matter?
It gets so much worse after that, though. I have no idea why people have children or some people are so incredibly stoked/obsessed with it.
I assume like an alligator or crocodile. Probably depends if it’s a carnivore or herbivore too
