Or maybe it has to do more with the region in which they’re lost. The USCG is typically very good about aiding anyone within their AOR, no matter their socioeconomic class. This should be framed more as “why isn’t Europe/Greece doing their jobs” than “why are the USCG/Canada actually doing their jobs”.
I can’t recommend Stardew Valley enough. It’s $5, but so absolutely worth it. Especially since there are no mtx, and is still getting updates, albeit a bit behind the PC version. One of the best uses of $5 on the app store imo
Definitely the mobile version of Stardew Valley
My cynical take is that the rights to any video games for those franchises are owned by the likes of EA, who just like recycling the same game over and over, year to year, because it’s cheap and easy and brings in a boatload of profit from Mtx. Developing a new arcade style sports game would cost money and not be the guaranteed cash cow of, say, Madden 23.
The Factory Must Grow
For the King (and coming soon, For the King 2) has been a go-to coop game with one of my buddies. It’s a turn based, low poly dnd-esque game with a handful of different campaigns. FTK 1 has 3 character parties, so one of us will just play 2 characters, but otherwise it’s pretty perfect for 2 people.
I have not! But I agree; you get all the portability of the Switch but the access to the game of a PC, so it’s pretty much perfect for that!
It isn’t fully in the spirit of the post, but I really, really enjoyed the For the King 2 closed beta last month. The gameplay felt just a bit more complicated than the first one, but very much in the same vein, which is what I was hoping for. It does have a 2023 release date, however, so I’m hopeful!
Stardew Valley has been my go-to so far, along with lots of old puzzle games (Portal 1/2, Myst, etc.) and the early Lego games, namely Lego Star Wars
I’ve been nothing but exceptionally satisfied with mine! Only thing in the last few years that was actually worth the preorder for me lmao.
Either Stardew Valley (for the chill vibe and calming soundtrack) or Old School RuneScape (for the massive nostalgia bomb)
Not so much a traditional “board” game, but I’ve been a lifelong enjoyer of Munchkin! It’s a whimsical dnd-esque card game with (almost literally) hundreds of different themed versions, from Space to the Wild West to Cthulhu even.
I managed to get myself back into Snowrunner this weekend following the Season 10 release. Honestly it’s my favorite expansion so far for two simple reasons: the second map has a garage, and all the warehouses (so far) have unlimited quantities of materials, instead of the limited set that has been the norm through most of Years 1, 2, and 3 (so far).
Otherwise, just grinding away on the OSRS group ironman as usual!
