Then why would Russia attack Ukraine? Especially since they had already agreed to let go of their nukes and not join NATO. Just let them be then.
That’s only because Russia has already privatized and sold off all of its national assets to oligarchs after the fall of the USSR.
See, I wasn’t really sure, but I think this thread has helped convince me that it’s probably okay. I was for sex work before, but then I had heard that countries with more lax sex work laws had more human trafficking. But that might just be a result of work in our moder capitalist hellscape. Part of me thinks sex work should be illegal until capitalist is abolished, but part of that is probably just some ingrained puritan attitudes of sex and personal philosophy about its intimacy. It doesn’t mean the state should ban people from selling it and it doesn’t mean I have to partake if it’s legal.
I’ll probably keep reading this thread to evolve my attitudes on the subject more, but thanks everyone for the interesting comments on a subject I don’t think about much (sex work… Sex itself I think about all the time lol).
What’s SOC services?
Don’t those already exist in union shops nowadays?
Some of the Scrubs jokes aged badly. I can’t remember any specifically, but there was some anti-gay humor and stuff like that. The show I still appreciated enough to get through a rewatch recently and still mostly enjoyed, but some of the individual jokes were hard to sit through. Wish I could remember one lol.
Electric Six
I think I saw someone mention them, but I can’t find them now. They’re pretty silly, but also their songs are unironically fun to listen to as well.
Use lemmyverse.net to find interesting communities and instances.
There are a couple of communities focused in finding other communities, like
!communitypromo@lemmy.ca
!newcommunities@lemmy.world
!trendingcommunities@feddit.nl
And general fediverse news:
!fediverse@lemmy.world
!fediverse@lemmy.ml
Contribute to communities you like even if they’re kinda empty. The important part is to get the conversation moving in a lot of these places, and someone has to start that.
Also remember to play around with different sorting algorithms. If active is getting stale, try hot. If you aren’t seeing enough small communities, try scaled. I also like using Top X Hours, from 6 to 24.
Meet Your Maker was probably the last one. I would day dream about the bases I could make and stuff. I think there’s a community for it here but it’s a lot more dead than the one on Reddit.
Wait are you me? Just replace guitar with piano, although I still would love to learn music well and carpentry and how to write. The things I would do if I was retired, or just didn’t have to work as much or commute as far…
Glad to help! I wish us both luck finding and reviving our favorite niche communities! I don’t want to have to go back to Reddit lol. I want this whole fediverse thing to work out.
Fascism is not even close to left lol. But I agree there’s too much politics sometimes. I don’t mind arguing about it but it could be good to talk about other stuff. I suggest subscribing to communities that advertise other communities so we can help them.
!trendingcommunities@feddit.nl !newcommunities@lemmy.world !communitypromo@lemmy.ca
Also browsing by scaled sort has helped me discover some new communities that my instance is connected.
And of course: https://lemmyverse.net/communities
I know just finding a new community doesn’t guarantee it will have people in it, but we have to start posting in those empty communities and filling them with content. It’s something I need to do a lot better with, too. I lurk too much.
Same in some of my hobbies. I’m like one of 3 posting in !leagueoflegends@lemmy.world but if people like us don’t post, it won’t grow at all, so got to try! I do need to do it more often.
Reddit has been crazy aggressive lately, especially on front page posts. I got tempted to look at it, and now I’m not even tempted anymore.

What I’ve learned from this thread as someone getting into horror again is that I really need to watch Hereditary and the original Candyman. Might just bookmark this for all the great recommendations. Only hard part is that my partner isn’t into horror so it’s hard to watch them.
