Definitely not going to argue with you there. I switched here to get away from that exact thing, and because I felt much more at home on Lemmy with people like you in the comments(I see you in the comments all of the time <3).

I was sick of seeing brain dead right wing and lib talking points being upvoted to the top of every thread. So it doesn’t surprise me that a lot of the Reddit immigrants are more right leaning.

Still, I am proof that at least some of us left Reddit because we found a home here surrounded by more left-leaning people. I find myself agreeing with a lot more people here than I ever did on Reddit.

If the Reddit fiasco didn’t happen I would have never even looked into Lemmy. I would imagine at least half, if not the majority, of Lemmy users joined around the same time.

I haven’t looked at Reddit since then, and I most definitely feel like Lemmy is much better than Reddit. I think you are focusing too much on the few Reddit immigrants that complain, and you interact with many of us that don’t complain, more often than not.

I’d never heard of them, but I looked them up, and I don’t see anything in their declaration of beliefs to suggest that they think that God is bad or evil. They just seem to have an emphasis on praying to Jesus, but they seem to have pretty standard Christian belief that God and Jesus and the Holy Ghost are all parts of the same being.

I am not sure how aligned all of the different Church of God denominations are in their beliefs, but the main website for them seems to be pretty standard Christian stuff.

Mid to late 1990s in elementary school computer class. The teacher had us boot up Netscape Navigator on the old Macintosh, and browse to askjeeves or excite or yahoo(I just remember it wasn’t Google yet).

I haven’t seen Chuck Palahniuk mentioned, and he was very influential to a bunch of us millenials, I imagine. He is very good at writing about the nihilism of modern times.

Fight Club is the most popular example of his novels, and its a great read. I am also really particular to, Rant:The Oral Biography of Buster. Its such a weird story, and was one of the first books to really spark my interest in reading fiction. He has a bunch of other good novels I would recommend, like Snuff, Choke, and Lullaby.

I upvoted because Vonnegut is the GOAT and most definitely wrote some bangers after 1970, but his first well known books were published in the 1960s. So, he is pretty close to OPs cutoff for modern writers, I guess.

Not that you’d want to because you hate JS and web components and all that, and there’s nothing wrong with your website, but NextJS supports Static Site generation.

So, JS and frameworks and webcomponents can get the job done for simple stuff nowadays. My portfolio page has a load time of 631 ms using the SSG built into NextJS, and its really similar to your website.

I have a 2017 vehicle with a manual transmission. It is probably one of the last of it’s kind and I fully expect my next vehicle purchase to be an ICE vehicle or at least the next big alternative fuel source. I have always driven old Japanese stick shifts until recently, and I can’t say I won’t miss it, but the future is now old man. I hope to get another 10 years out of my current vehicle, so it’ll at least be awhile.

I would gladly take my chances on the autobahn over the freeways in California. I feel that I’m much more likely to get killed in California by somebody texting while driving.

I feel like the nature of the autobahn makes it so drivers actually have to pay attention, but I could be wrong.

Also, the kind of cars that are popular in Europe actually drive and perform well. Our freeways are filled with pickup trucks and large SUVs, where the driver can’t see anything in a 10 foot radius around their truck, and if they have to perform a quick maneuver at top speed, it’s pretty much impossible.

Road safety here means to just be in a bigger vehicle, not to have a nimble well handling vehicle like most Europeans seem to prefer.

We had a poop spork for similar purposes involving a lizard cage. It was good for fishing lizard poops out of the water dish.

Holy crap you just awakened an ancient memory of me as a little kid, playing this game on an MS-DOS PC of some kind at one of my relatives house. I didn’t know what this game was called until now, I just remember being amazed how much more advanced it was compared to the Sega Genesis games I was playing at the time.

They should most definitely do an update to that. I never played another game like it.
