Also Rocket League. I’ve got like 2K hours and managed to get to Grand Champion (1) once, but usually hang around in Champ 2 or 3. In a way I just play like a very consistent Diamond player though. I can semi-reliably wavedash, sometimes manage to hit a half flip, and can’t do any flip resets, musty flicks, etc. I solely rely on positioning, shooting at the right time, fast aerials, bumping, and boost stealing.
Yeah this is definitely a good mentality to become a better person. I’m still struggling a bit with wanting to do everything perfectly, which causes me to stop doing it. But I’ve started getting more success with just telling myself they “anything is better than nothing”.
I used to not really do any sports and eat whatever I felt like. In the past few years I’ve started turning it around by picking up running and trying to eat better. If I would’ve expected perfection in either of those, I would’ve quit within a month. But by being proud of every good decision I make, however small it is, I managed to keep it going and changed my health for the better.
To be honest, I disagree. It’d be logical if that was true, because that’s what you’d expect, but I’ve met plenty of counterexamples. People who were well educated in some subject and therefore assumed that they know everything better. I’ve found that for a certain group of people, having a bachelor’s or master’s degree makes them overestimate their ability massively. Some of them you could at least partially convince with facts, but I’ve also met a few of them who has gone completely off the deep end. Well educated doesn’t always mean intelligent
Not my experience. I’ve had multiple old games and an old printer that just straight up didn’t work under Windows. On Linux however (using wine for the windows exe’s) it usually does run. Sometimes it does require some googling, but there’s usually someone who tried it before.
Yeah exactly. I don’t mind people who read about communism and think it’s a good idea. I used to think communism was better than capitalism when I was younger as well, although I was not at all as well read up on it as some people here. But a subset of them (who I refer to as tankies) appear to support all kinds of horrible regimes because they used to be “communist” like China or sometimes even Russia.
I never said I was 100% against the idea of communism, nor against people who think it’s a good idea. I’m simply against the subset of commies that seems to blindly defend horrible regimes like the Chinese communist party. And sadly the latter seems well represented here, which is the group I’d refer to as tankies.
Weird meme this one. I’m 100% against tankies, or at least the type of communist here who seems hellbent on defending regimes like the Chinese communist party or (especially weird) Putin’s Russia. There’s plenty of stuff wrong about western nations, but that is no excuse for defending dictators and authoritarian regimes. And I’m definitely not the angry pepe in the image, because by all classifications I would be part of the “woke left”.

I wiped my accounts (12 years of posts/comments) and deleted all alt accounts, but I kept my main alive (but wiped) mostly so I can keep a pulse on the subs I’m following and the state of Reddit. I’ve noticed that some subs needed some encouragement to remain blacked out, so being able to upvote using a (trusted) account is still helpful. I’ve replaced my Reddit usage with Lemmy and I do intend to stay away from reddit.
Yeah I did the same with Jerboa a few days ago. I keep clicking it, and it’s actually building the “good” habit of using Lemmy instead of reddit. There’s less content here though, but maybe that’s a blessing in disguise. Filling the “mindless scrolling of the internet” time with something useful should be my actual goal. So having less stuff to browse might help with that.
This one definitely has potential. Some stuff looks janky, but given that it launches in 2024 that’s totally normal and there’s still plenty of time to fix that. The graphics look amazing and there’s plenty of cool mechanics in the trailer already such as asking Nix to interact with all kinds of environment objects, the blaster modes, and the flying and speeder.
Oi this seems interesting. Honestly I think I would’ve preferred an open world game in this setting with character customization rather than a fixed protagonist, but I’m nevertheless curious about this one.
I love this, but I always kinda miss out on really liking these Downfall subtitle swaps. My German isn’t perfect, but I get enough of the actual spoken dialog that it distracts me from the subtitles. It’s probably way funnier when you don’t understand what they’re saying.
Still, it can’t be too different from what’s happening in the Reddit HQ. At least I hope so
The instance system definitely makes it a bit confusing. I’m a programmer and I’ve played around with some Mastodon stuff during my study. Still, as a user, it’s quite chaotic sometimes.
I’m kinda wondering what this will converge towards. Is everyone going to join the same instance? Are different communities be kinda randomly spread over instances, where for every community in the end one instance dominates? Or will there just be chaos?
There’s also some buggy behavior every now and then, but that’s easily forgiven imo.
Cigarettes should be too expensive for anyone to buy. They ruin a lot of beautiful moments. I hate being at some party and having some idiot forcing these cancer particles into my nose because they’re too lazy to go outside to smoke.
