I have tried that. I unplugged everything except a wireless keyboard I used to navigate the menus and it didn’t help
Mostly here to kill time. Big fan of open source game engine recreations/source ports, firmware modding, Linux, and gaming in general.

I find a lot of admins forget or neglect bridges which can be frustrating
There’s a few open source front ends for Twitch that I’ve tried but I’ve had the occasional issue with video playback either stopping and being unable to reload or if I’m watching a VOD it won’t consistently remember my position so I’d say I prefer the official app.
Normally I use open source ones when possible such as NewPipe or Invidious for YouTube for example.
I carry a 40 pin connector adapter as well
Honestly USB C adapters. If you EDC a portable power bank it’s worth looking into a USB C to micro and thunderbolt adapter. It’s a lot easier than carrying around multiple cords and an easy way to help out friends and coworkers.
I think I got mine for a few dollars on Ali Express
I think it was a lot of shortsightedness on behalf of Redditors. I feel like there is a lot less tiptoeing around here
Thanks. I think dbzer0 will be fine.
The instance owner seems really on the ball when it comes to things like defederation and updates and like they have plans to keep the instance alive in the long term even with the influx of users. I might create a FMHY account and check to see how things are going.
I used to run a Raspberry Pi 4 in the same case for months at a time and didn’t have issues. I’d say you are fine
I have a similar story where I originally went with FMHY up until it went down. I decided to go with dbzer0 because they have a similar stance for discussing piracy.
That said, as far as I know, they have the same rule as /r/piracy when it comes to requesting or linking to content which I don’t personally like. I enjoyed helping people find music and TV shows on FMHY. They also want to keep things SFW which I don’t personally have strong feelings about one way or the other but I’d prefer an instance with an indifferent approach.
Yeah it’s federation.
A different domain (ex. .TV, .us., .gov, etc.) doesn’t always mean it’s the same site. I couldn’t find any notable cases (or court cases) but an example could be mylocalbusiness.de versuses mylocalbusiness.pt
In that situation I can create a website for my local business in Germany and not have to worry about an identically named business in Portugal potentially.
It is important to keep this in mind though because spoofing one website for malicious purposes is a real hazard.
What makes NixOS standout?
Have you run into many issues specifically around Manjaro?
Several years ago when I was using Manjaro ARM they let their SSL certificates expire a couple times and it was enough to cause me to jump ship.
Kbin? If it’s federated they are all going to have a bit of the same content it really just depends on what the focus is.
Is Briar kind of similar to Manyverse? I feel like from what I recall it can use LAN networks, Bluetooth, and the internet.
I’d recommend Kiwi. You can use it combined with Wikipedia’s ZIM files to have access to just about all of Wikipedia offline.
I would recommend installing all of Libre Office’s programs for work purposes. It’s free and open source so you won’t have to deal with licenses and unwanted updates.
Calibre would be a good tool to have for reading ebooks and converting files.
There’s also apps like RedditOffline so if you have an intermittent connection you can browse threads offline. I imagine similar services exist for other platforms.
Is there a specific thing you are looking for? Prompts, short stories, feedback, and so on
I thought it might be a loose connection or a cable issue as well but I’ve tried reseating them and also using an externally powered USB hub because I’ve heard that can fix some issues.
Weird, mine has been absolutely rock solid. And I don’t touch the oculus software, just SteamVR. I’ve played hundreds of hours of Bonelab and Half Life 2 VR etc
Don’t you need Meta’s software to setup the headset and get your computer to recognize it?
I own a Rift S as well and absolutely hate Meta’s software. On the hardware side of things I’ve had pretty much constant disconnection issues
That I prefer PlayStation over Xbox. I ended up playing the Killzone, Resistance, and inFamous series as well as Red Dead Redemption on a PS3 and I really liked the dashboard and trophy system. I even got used to the controller. I was a die hard Xbox 360 guy in high school but I think that was mostly because it’s what my friends were using.
It does help consoles modding seems to be easier on the PlayStation side of things.
Due it being like this since I got it, an intermittent issue, and a common issue online I don’t think it is the unit. Killing Oculus’ software and restarting it would occasionally get it to work so I feel like it might be that. I spent sometime reading Oculus Support threads and others shared my suspicions.
My only other thought would have been my motherboard or power supply. My CPU, GPU, and RAM should be enough.
