Decided to give Chrono Trigger (the steam version) a try. Honestly a cool game. I need to figure out how to defeat Lavos without getting murdered instantly.

I just got invited to a Steam Family and got a couple hundred new games so…a lot!

Lonely Mountains Downhill not a big fan of this one.

Elden Ring - only for a few minutes but excited to start this one.

Dead Space - played quite a bit of this one. Controls and vantage points are frustrating but it runs using about the same amount of energy as Hollow Knight on Steam Deck (~8W), which is quite impressive.

My Friend Pedro - Also a REALLY good and fun game with frustrating controls. Kinda like a modern side-scrolling Max Payne.

Doom + Doom II - I think I bought this a long time ago as a DOOM “package” or whatever you call the sets on Steam. I can’t do it LOL it’s just bad. The new music tracks are excellent though.

Deadpool - Absolutely excellent 10/10 fun game to play but you can’t buy it anymore. I’m sure you can pirate it somewhere.

Doing my best to make progress in tears of the kingdom but it’s just so big. Also, recently got helldivers and I’ve been enjoying it when it doesn’t crash constantly

I am back on Elite Dangerous after taking some time to focus on Deep Rock Galactic in the first half of the year. I now have a second flight stick and did a little community class on flight assist off flying. Plus there have been lots of updates coming out. Taking advantage of the new engineering changes to build a really good combat ship and then going to focus on getting to Elite in combat probably, which also helps me practice my faoff flying.

Not sure I’m familiar. I picked the game up last summer and got Odyssey pretty soon after the base game and didn’t notice a difference then, so maybe?

If you take a screenshot in horizons and then take the same screenshot in odyssey, you’ll see that blacks are crushed to absolute shit in odyssey. You can even raise gamma to max and you still will not recover that shadow detail. The devs clipped it. They tonemapped the game incorrectly. It becomes blatantly obvious when you play this game on an oled screen haha.

I.e., take screenshot in horizons where tjere is a large shadow or no light hitting a part of your ship. Replicate it in Odyssey. It’ll be obvious. Or try raising gamma to max and you’ll see that zero shadow detail is recovered.

Also idk if you’re familiar with reshade, but if you google and install Lilium’s HDR shaders, it makes it even easier to see how crushed shadows are. It shows you a waveform visual that maps brightness. (Graph works in sdr as well as hdr)

Interesting, I think I’ve probably never noticed because I use night vision pretty much all the time when I’m flying my ship. I’ll look into reshade but I’m playing on Linux via proton and I’m not sure I want to hack more on an already working setup lol

Fair enough. The real issue is when you play in HDR (via inverse tonemapping) on an OLED. It’s just missing sooooo much shadow detail. It’s a well known issue that they never fixed and probably will never fix unfortunately. I’ve been experimenting with ways to recover the shadow detail using reshade add-ons, but so far no luck :-(.

120 hours in and I’m still playing Kingdom Come Deliverance. I think I like it much better than Skyrim. The only thing I don’t like about it is the missing crosshair for bows, but a simple console command fixes that for me. I’ve not yet completed the main quest lol and there are still plenty of side quests to finish. It’s crazy how the studio pushed CryEngine of all things into this interesting RPG. Puts Bethesda to shame honestly.

Yes it is. It even has schedules for NPCs, activities to do, people reacting to your clothes or cleanliness, your hunger level or sleepiness, day night cycle, an interesting fast travel mechanism.

I also love their pickpocketing mini game.

Just keep in mind that it is supposed to be difficult in the first few hours. But as you skill it starts getting easier to the point that you’re walking killing machine that can unlock any lock, speech check almost anything and buy the best gear.
