Still haven’t started actually reading ASoIaF, despite being a big fan and having already read tons of snippets from the books (thank AltShiftX for peaking my curiosity). Maybe this summer I will pick up AGOT.
The books are great and the show was great up until a point. One is an unfinished masterpiece, the other started as a masterpiece and ended like a sitcom designed by committee.
Have you read any of Joe Abercrombie? I think a lot of people that enjoy ASoIaF do or would really enjoy his work, and he’s actually still releasing books.

Aww, the first is quite unfortunate… The latter though, seems to be a more common fate nowadays…

If you haven’t read it, try Wheel of Time. I can’t recommend it enough. Ignore the disgraceful Amazon show.
I’ve heard of it (and its incredible show xP) but never read anything. Will put it on my list for this summer.
