If the user has set a display name, you’ll see the shortened display name without the instance. If they haven’t set a display name, you’ll see the full username.
I don’t know how it looks like with display names, but I am pretty sure same happens when the user is on your instance.
Same instance still has the “@” in front of the name, though. Like you should see mine now.
